Lush Review: I love juicy shampoo.

Product: I Love Juicy shampoo by Lush.

Price: ranges from £4.20 - £13.45.

Tagline/description: I Love Juicy is an amazingly fruity shampoo for getting your hair really clean. It is genuinely juicy, too, with our vitamin and mineral-packed fruit mixture as a base, loads of cleansing organic papaya and kiwi with citrus oils for shine, toning and fruity fragrance. Washing with a fruit and seaweed mix removes grease and softens the hair. Don't be dirty, be fabulously fruity.

My review: Before I came across this product I was shampooing my fine hair at night and by morning it would be greasy again. I would dry shampoo at 7am but by midday it would be oily again, I thought of washing it in the morning but who wants to get up at 6am? I came across Lush products online after researching shampoos for oily hair, I decided to pop into my local Lush shop and give it a chance.

I hadn't even got into the shower when I decided to open it and give it a good sniff. The product itself looked a bit...well unattractive to be blunt. Sludgy brown alike to the colour with pips and yellow foam but don't judge a product by it's colour? Also I've noticed the colour differs from bottle to bottle. The smell wasn't too great, it smelt of plants and damp soil. Mmm. But I have noticed after more openings the smell itself has grown into a general fruity scent so don't be put off by first impressions.

Feeling like I should appreciate the cruelty free ingredients I checked them out, some interesting oils but to your average Joe it doesn't mean much. The bottle seems a bit plain apart from the title and it's description which included the lack of directions. Just use it like a normal shampoo but don't get this stuff anywhere near your eyes seriously, I went from thinking "Will it rain today" to "Will this product fucking blind me!?"

In the shower I squeezed a teaspoon amount into my palm, it foamed up amazingly. I've got a "Pob" chin length cut and I needed way less than a teaspoon to clean. Once dry when I tried to part my hair with a comb when damp but it got knotted which is unusual for me. Sadly there's no lingering smell which is a shame as it's actually rather pleasant, the more you smell it the more scents you find such as kiwi and citrusy. My hair was left literally squeaky clean!

I bought this product in January and I'm still using the same bottle in September so considering the price it's actually quite cheap. I reckon it's one of those bulk products which seem expensive at the time (Choosing the medium option cost me around £8) but if you divide it by the amount paid and used it's about 35p each week? Don't rely on my Maths but you get the point.

Now I don't worry about as much about greasy hair and rarely use dry shampoo to top it up, my hair stays less greasy for longer. I haven't bought any shampoo since and no plans have being made to replace this, it really has helped my hair and I recommend anyone with particularly oily hair to use this (even my friend uses this as a clarifying shampoo weekly). So despite the odd colour and the expensive price it's actually a real haven for oily hair.

Pro:
Cleans oily hair fantastically, in fact I'm still using this product.
You don't need a lot of it, it foams easily.
Cheap considering the amount needed.
Lasted over 6 months.
Cruelty free.
Nice smell.

Con:
Sometimes left hair knotted.
The smell doesn't linger.
Good God don't get this stuff in your eyes.

Would I repurchase: Yes, this is the best shampoo for my fine, oily hair.
