Do Goths make better lovers?

My friend sent me this ages ago and you've probably seen it before but I thought I post my reaction here, it was mostly a jump off point to discuss and I'm hoping you'll tell me your reaction. It's quite funny and worth watching.

Apparently all Goths are couples? Well obviously not, we're still human beings and *gasp* are capable of choosing a lifestyle that doesn't involve being about a couple. I actually prefer being single so you can imagine how far up my eyebrows went when I heard that.

Aside from the cringy commentary I found some truth because when goth couples get together they seem to really click. However I wouldn't as far as to say that we make better girlfriends or boyfriends, stepping too far into stereotype territory. I cannot repeat this enough, the Goth subculture is not a mindset. We do not all have the same type of personality, awareness and education, I could list this all day. To say Goths are better lovers is moving into that dodgy area, perhaps we're just more romantic and emotionally aware?

Secretia and Darren seem like a lovely couple and I genuinely had an aww moment with them.I agree that we have a greater sense of community but sadly some of us don't have much of that in our areas. I have actually never (as far as I know) met a Goth in real life.

Okay, admit it. Who sniggered that middle class comment from Emma? I did so it's okay ;) I don't think I need to even bother explaining that class will never have anything to do with the subculture, although apparently it's a stereotype (just not one I've personally come across). The fashion can be quite expensive but I can afford it, DIY and years of experience on a low budget will take you far.

I completely burst out laughing (the type of laughter that makes everyone in the room look over) when he said that a lot of "fit" women become Goth to show off their bodies, it takes more than getting your tits out.

I agree that we're more open minded about sex but as I've already said, we're human beings and humans can have problems. Goths can't be repressed? Being in the subculture won't stop people from having sexual issues. I hate it when they talk about "catching" a Goth and giving a sample (nudge nudge), that's just creepy. It'll take more slapping on the eyeliner to pull me, I didn't realise how true that Sexy Death Chix thing was until I watched this. I also didn't realise people actually thought we was all middle class although I've being told that's a frequent assumption.

What would you do if someone tried to steal your blog's identity?

This is a pretty important post if you're a blogger, so please read! Sorry about linking to other blogs recently but I only do it if it's worth reading, I promise. There's a wonderful blog called Shoeper Woman that's run by Amber who regularly blogs about shoes, pretty funky name right? Well that's what someone called Laura thought and actually set up a retail website and blog (several other accounts on facebook, twitter, etc) with the same name, she was well aware of Amber's blog when she did this.

In fact she went one step further, Laura is actually applying for trademark! I know it's unbelievable and downright nasty to try and steal that from the real Shoeper Woman, now Amber has to also apply which costs a lot of money. If you don't think it's Amber's blog then please don't read it, it doesn't deserve the hits. Amber however does need the hits, the more hits she has the more likely it is that she will gain the trademark and people will find the real Shoeper Woman beforehand.

You can more about this suitation in detail here, even if you just click on her blog you would helping her. She needs all bloggers support and we need to stick together, please consider posting this on your blog.

Lush review: Lust solid perfume.

Product: Lust solid perfume.

Price: £5.00

Tagline/description Unashamedly carnal jasmine. Wear it if you want to get lucky. Mark is particularly fond of working with jasmine absolute and he's gone all the way. The indolic character of the white flower is in full bloom, accented by rich florals and a soft, woody base.

My review Well I was easily swayed at the sensual description and name, I bought the solid perfume version and applied to my wrists. I found the product to be quite sticky and unpleasant to have on my skin, it always leaves a red film on my wrists as well. It never fully dried and hated wearing it, if I liked the scent I would buy the spray bottle instead. The tube works by pushing the perfume directly up from the bottom but mine always popped up too quickly, you can't push it back down again and I was forced to put the lid back on the product. I cringed as I heard the perfume squish, what a waste. Also, it melts in hot weather but I expected that. I might have been able to ignore these minor points if I liked the scent but I didn't, it's the worst perfume I have ever smelt in my whole life. It's really powerful and heavy, I've actually gone off the Jasmine scent ever since trying this. I ended up washing my wrists because it was so nauseating and gave my friend a headache. The second time I tried it I used a tiny amount and it was better, it faded after an hour which is a shame because the settled scent could appeal to some people. Unfortunately I just hate the smell so much. I got plenty of remarks but none were particularly nice.

Pro:
Strong scent.

Pure Jasmine.
Eco packaging.
Handy for travelling.
Fair price.
Would last a while.

Con:
Badly designed tube.

Sticky texture.
Stains clothes.
Scent fades quickly.

Would I repurchase: No!

Q&A regarding sun safety, suncream and tanning.

Suncream questions.

What's the difference between UVA and UVB?
The main difference is quite simply the wavelength. UVA rays can actually get through windows, clothing, etc because they're pretty powerful. UVB causes short-term effects such as burning but are the main cause of skin cancers.

What's SPF mean?
SPF is the measure of protection the suncream provides against burning.

Can you add up the amount of SPF, eg using SPF15 then a SPF20 on top?
No it doesn't work like that, you only get protection from one product and that's the one with the highest SPF.

Is high factor a waste of money?
Not necessarily but you need to determine your own skin type to answer this question. If you're got fair skin it's worth buying SPF30 but if you've got darker skin you could buy a suncream with a lower SPF. Some suncreams with high SPF cost a lot more money and don't even give significantly better protection compared to SPF30, do your research on the suncream before buying it.

Is facial suncream or daily moisturiser really worth it?
A daily moisturiser that has SPF15 or above is worth using but not all include UVA protection so please check if you want that. Most facial moisturisers are designed for incidental exposure and not for long term sun exposure so always do your research. If you're at risk of prolonged exposure choose a product with UVA and UVB, that includes both suncream and moisturiser. However it's worth carrying around a small bottle of facial suncream or moisturiser because it's unlikely after a few hours of sweating that the full level of protection is present.

How much suncream should I use?

I reckon about a tablespoon of the product for your face and you should use enough for your body to be covered, look at the directions on the bottle to be more specific.

How often do I re-apply?
Always check the bottle but it always needs reapplying after contact with water.

How long should I wait for my suncream to set in?
If we're talking about preventing stains you should wait only a few minutes.

Sun safety.

Can I stay in the sun for longer if I wear suncream?
When you apply suncream you still have to follow the basic rules of avoiding the sun and re-applying when needed.

Should we avoid the sun all the time?
Going outside in the sun for even only ten minutes a day helps your body produce that daily dose of Vitamin D, a healthy amount of Vitamin D can prevent bone problems. However unless you're living under the cupboard you're going to get some Vitamin D from everyday exposure, even accidental and from your diet so don't feel guilty for sitting in the shade.

Is it true that you can only get burn between 11am and 3pm?
You can get burnt at any time of the day, provided the sun is out. It just so happens that's when it's most hot.

What other damages can the sun cause?
Mainly Cataracts,  sun stroke (which has nasty symptoms such as fainting an nausea) and sunburn.

Skin damages.

How can I prevent skin damage?
SPF suncream for your skin type, wear a hat or use a parasol and avoid the sun. Just basic sun safe rules can really help.

Is tanning classed as burning?
Well still damages which is why I consider the tanning trend pretty dangerous, a tan is formed by melanin which darkens your skin in order to stop you literally burning.

Which is better: tanning salons or tanning in the sun?
Tanning beds are the worst because the rays are far more concentrated on your skin.

Can a "base tan" prevent burning?

No. This is a pile of bullshit spread by those in denial or trying to sell their tanning business. You can't prevent damage by damaging.
