Goth make-up is something I will always be fond of, I love how someone can be transformed from ordinary person to Queen of the Night. It's striking and unique, the effects can be brilliant if done correctly. It's no wonder that make up is considered to be a part of our particular aesthetic.
But do you have to conform to it? No, plenty of Goths don't wear heavy make up. In fact there's a few don't wear any at all! People don't wear make up for various reasons. Perhaps they don't have the skills or time, they may not even like make up. For example I've never worn a full face of foundation because it makes me feel uncomfortable.
If you prefer the natural look then embrace it, there's not enough fresh faced Goths around and it would be a nice change. You don't even have to wear gothic make up, you can try a more natural looking approach. Just because you're expected to wear black eyeliner doesn't mean you have to. Do your make up how you want to.

I personally don't wear foundation, powder, blush, etc - I used to, but now I stick to eye makeup only. Some days I go all out with rich dark shadows, liner, etc - and some days, I sport a simple black line and some mascara.
For me it comes down to comfort and time!
Most days my makep consists if face powder and mascara. Seems simore to have more for work or going to the grocery.
I want to be a make-up artist, so I'm very into experimenting with different types of make-up.
My everyday look consists of concealer, pink blush, bronzer, a shimmery pink eyeshadow base, green and pink eyeshadow, black smudged powder liner, eyelash curler and mascara.
When I feel like it, I'll fill in my lips with a brown lip pencil, and cover with a dark berry red lipstick.
This routine is my summer and red hair routine xD
I love full goth makeup with eyes and lips, but I work in the legal field, which is ultra conservative. Many people wear very little or natural makeup in this field. However, I still like to look unique, so I do a very thick retro eyeliner look like Dita Von Teese. I don't do the red lips though as that would be pushing it. Instead, I go for a sheer berry color. The one thing I miss in the corporate world is that I can't wear red, black oe dark purple polish in my office, as those are the only colors I usually wear. I dislike beige and nude colors, so I usually go for a light grey color (although it makes my skin look a bit sallow).
I don't wear makeup at all, mainly becuae of the lack of time and skill. Though it's nice to have to worry about touchups, I sometimes wish I had the skills, time, and eyesight to wear makeup. Done correctly it can be beautiful.
