I had just been shopping and decided to hang up my new purchases up in my wardrobe when this happened:
A whole bunch of clothes that no longer fit.
This is my DIY pile, I'm going to dye all of these to make them more versatile. Some have simply faded and need to be put in a dye bath.
The dress I wore for my 18th and spent £45 on, I've worn it once. Sigh what a waste, I didn't even really like it I just wanted something new to wear and got desperate. Below that is a 1940s vintage skirt I bought for £30, it's cute but it's just not me. The red lace dress is also vintage and beautiful, I love it but I have to accept it's too short on me.
Two full bags of clothes I'm taking to charity shops or reselling. The final total of what the clothes cost me is horrifying, it's £200 worth of clothes I bought and regretted. However it's fair to say a few of these don't fit me anymore, I'm too tall or too big. The £200 also includes the accessories I had bought and never used, I always have a favourite that I wear to death and then replace.
Much better! I've recently bought a new black wardrobe, now I've just got to put it up (snort like that's going to happen, I'll ring my Dad).

I'm doing the same thing! Only putting things aside (so I can give it to the salvation army) as I wear myself through my wardrobe x'D
Your clothing collection looks awesome! Love the vintage stuff. I know the feeling! I have absolutely no space in my wardrobe anymore. Everything is squashed and squeezed in. It makes it difficult when trying to find something to wear etc. I really need to do what you are doing and sort through the stuff to sell, give away or sew/DIY etc.
This is perfect for me! I just went through the same experience because I'm moving! from now on I plan on keeping my closet more organized!

I'm visiting the UK form the US and when I found that the climate in Scotland was colder than I'd packed for, I needed to find a second hand store to buy cheap clothes from... and couldn't find any "second hand stores" anyplace! Took me several days to figure out "charity shop" seems to be the UK term.
Anyway, happy to see you're getting your wardrobe cleared! I buy so few clothes and tend to just wear them till they fall apart -- in fact while some have a bit pile of 'giveaway' clothes I always have a pile of 'mending' that I never really get around to...
Oh yes Scotland is very cold! Here's a translation for future reference.
Secondhand shops - means the same in Britain but we mainly sell furniture and homeware in ours.
Thrift store - charity shop.
Shopping mall - shopping centre.
Also, we use the term High Street for a popular cluster of shops on one area. Eg town centre.
Hahah my mending and DIY have yet to be touched since I made this post ;)
